# Targets

A target is a specific, time-bound objective under a master goal — the concrete number you're aiming at, like "200 demos in 60 days" or "reactivate 500 dormant accounts in 30 days."

Set one in [Chat](/using-audience-loop/meet-chat.md) in plain language, or let the Harness propose it. From there the always-on loop decomposes it into audiences, decisions, and channels, and paces toward the deadline. Progress — 62 of 200, on pace or behind — shows up in [Pace-to-target](/using-audience-loop/overview-1/pace-to-target.md).

Targets ride on top of your standing master goals: the master loop keeps running while each target drives toward its finish line.
